Prototype
Soon to be released Prototype looks absolutely incredible, the graphics seem great, its violent and its an open city to go anywhere. What i like the best is that you are able to shape shift into different characters and play as them. Also as the main character you are exactly dressed or take the role of a hero and are more like a destructive huddy.
Frank Miller's comic art
As a fan of the Sin city and 300 films Frank Millers comic strips are equally impressive. At first glanced the illustrations look as if they have been quickly sketched, making them look quite cheap and simple. Although because they are mainly in black and white, shadowing can be taken advantage and the style of it all gives of quite dark and glum feel this style like the actual films . Similar to Roy Licthensteins work and others Miller uses bold text to symbolize sounds and movements to create action.

Devil May Cry Animated
Taken from the popular computer game, Devil May Cry Animated was redone as episodes following the actions of the demon hunter, Dante. The company madhouse produced the show and was aired especially in Japan as anime. The animation is very gruesome and Gothic in highly resembling the cartoon Spawn. Although the fight scenes are sharper and much more action packed. Unlike the disgraceful films Doom, Resident Evil and Street fighter, i think they have done quite well recreating a game as a cartoon. They have captured Dante's character and personality very well. Unfortunately, devil may cry was a mini series and only twelve cartoons were made.

Clayton Crain, Venom Carnage Book
After searching through the Internet at comic book artists i soon came across the the illustrator Clayton Crain. Similar to the artist Todd Mcfarlane (creator for the spawn series) Crain bases most of his work around the area of marvel comics and creates his art as digital paintings. After purchasing one of the books myself you can truly see his talent as his imagination especially with the villains and monsters is extremely wide ranged and very creative. the characters he draws look so out of scale out and over exaggerated yet they look perfect and give off personalty through it. At other times he draws the images so detailed and accurate capturing light, dark shading and surface textures they almost look like a photograph. His illustrations are wild and Very impressive.

DC and Marvel Encyclopedia
As character design is one of my major interests, over the holidays i bought the DC and Marvel universe encyclopedias to look at and give me ideas of my own in the future. After flipping through both of the books i was surprised how many characters have been created over the different comic series and films. Admittedly between the two books some certain illustrations of characters are very similar, especially with the scaling and structure of some drawings of faces. Never the less the majority of characters and costumes invented are very wide ranged and highly imaginative.

Blades of Chaos design
My opinion probably one of the best game series i have ever played on for the PS2 and PS3 is God of War. As it is set in the times of Greek Mythology it is an all action game filled with blood and gore, played by the violent and troubled character Kratos. What really makes the game so graphically brutal are the weapons used in the games. I especially like the design of main weapons the blades of chaos which are used throughout the game. The blades are designed as big thick jagged daggers with hooked spikes around the edges and the handles are shaped like a creature with an open mouth. The handles are then connected to Kratos arms with the use of long chains which allows him to use the blades like whips. what really makes the idea of this weapon so good is the realistic 3D detail used to create them. As the designers have kept a primitive dark feel to them but yet they act in the game like an a advanced sword.

Poster Fonts
Besides the actual images, i think what really makes a horror poster a good advertisement is the typography style. Just because certain lettering styles are not as technical as others, doesn't mean that they are less effective. I especially like these two similar fonts as both styles look so simple to design that anyone could do them. Although because they look hand drawn and effortless i think the writing still gives of a creepy feel giving of ideas and making it as if they had been rushed by a scared character out off desperation. Another reason why this type of writing stands out well is because of the bright white colours used in it which contrasts over the darker backgrounds making the style more noticeable to viewers.

Ford Fiesta Advert
Although i am not a big fan of the majority of adverts i did enjoy this one. Whats clever is the random positioning of the different sized TV sets as they are set out randomly and when animated it seems to form a blob shape of liquid sliding about. The other thing that i found eye catching is the way they have created the movements of the televisions, but have also captured the different types of pictures on the screen making each tv set a segment of the whole picture managing the timing and accuracy of the process very well. Especially near the end of the advert when it came to presenting the actual car, the accuracy of it all is perfect.
